Sheridan's "Northern Stars" have become recognized as one of Ohio's best small mixed competitive show choirs over the past four years. Caption awards have included Best Vocals, Best Choreography, Best Show Concept, Best Band, and Best Crew, with the group recently becoming consistent finalists.This season, they are comprised of 22 Singer/Dancers, a crew of 7, and the show band "Space Jam" made up of 6. This year they competed at 6 competitions in Ohio, Indiana and West Virginia during the months of January, February and March. Throughout their contest season the show choir received awards such as Best Choreography, Best Costumes and Best Crew. They placed in the top of their division and advanced to finals numerous times. This year the group became recognized as a powerhouse in placement predictions and in the National Show Choir Ranking System for the first time in the team’s history - truly putting the school on the map! The “Northern Stars” ended their season with their own competition, the Sheridan Spotlight, on March 18th. This year the Spotlight hosted 17 Show Choirs from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Illinois and West Virginia. The Spotlight was one of the largest show choir contests in the state of Ohio, with approximately 1,200 people in attendance! The group is under the direction of Beth McClain, with choreography and show design by Dallas Pritt.
