Superintendent's Message

Dear Generals,

I find myself reflecting back on this school year and somehow struggle to comprehend that we only have a little of the last grading period remaining. I guess with all of the amazing experiences our students and staff create for each of us to enjoy that it is easy to lose track of time. The performances of our drama and music programs illustrate that incredible talent, we are so fortunate to foster in the youth of our community. The success of our winter sports programs only echo this belief as evidenced by our Lady Generals basketball team earning back-to-back MVL titles, our boys basketball team earning over 20 wins for the first time in over 3 decades, our wrestling Generals sending 10 competitors onto districts and four to state, and finally our gymnastics team qualifying for the state meet for the second year in a row.

This newsletter highlights the recent events and success stories of our students, but it also does much more. It helps paint a picture of what it means to be a GENERAL. I have been approached by several families the last few weeks who share their gratitude toward the district for the opportunities it offers their children. They further share their sincere appreciation for how the staff and community supports the students, and more importantly how the students support one another.

The recent events in Florida can shake even the strongest of faith and it is more important now, than ever before, that we continue to support one another, care for one another, and love one another. The Northern Local School District is my family, as I am certain that it is each of yours; and I intend to do everything I can to ensure the safety of my Family. I hope that you will join me as we continue to improve the safe and nurturing environment that we strive to provide for our students.

As always, I encourage you to come to our buildings during the numerous activities going on so that you can see why I am always so excited to be a GENERAL.
Yours in Education,

Thomas Perkins
Superintendent
