Board of Education - Northern Local School District

The Board's regular monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month and will begin at 6:30 P.M. Meetings are held in the Board office unless otherwise noted. The agenda will be posted at least 2 days prior to a scheduled meeting.

All are welcome to attend the monthly meeting.

"The Northern Local School District places first priority on the safety and well being of our students. It is only in a safe and nurturing environment that a student can truly reach their greatest potential. Therefore, we take a proactive approach to any form of bullying and harassment that may occur between our students. If you or your child feel that a bullying or harassment behavior is occurring, please contact your child's teacher or building principal immediately. We cannot assist with issues that we are unaware of and that often can only make the child feel more helpless. We appreciate your help in creating the safest environment for all of our students to thrive and grow."

result of repeated actions and not a single reported incident.

Dale DeRolph

Dale DeRolph (President) – Mr. DeRolph has served on the Northern Local Board of Education for 14 years and has spent most of that time as the Board President. Mr. DeRolph also serves on the Board finance committee. He has raised his 2 children as Generals! Mr. DeRolph’s involvement with the district began long before becoming a Board member as his family is the namesake for the landmark lawsuit against the State of Ohio for adequate school funding. A victory that helped provide state dollars for the construction of hundreds of new school buildings throughout Ohio. When asked what he likes most about the district Mr. DeRolph replied, “General Pride. The Northern Local Board has great pride in our administration, teachers and staff, who also have sincere pride in our students. The parents and the community have great pride in all of our schools. I am extremely proud of the education that our students receive at Northern Local and the accomplishments of those students after graduation.” Thank you Mr. DeRolph for your service to the district.

Patrick Hogan

Patrick Hogan – Mr. Hogan has served on the Board for 8 years. He also serves on the Finance committee. Mr. Hogan is raising his 4 children as Generals! When asked what he liked most about the district Mr. Hogan replied, “Our students and their families, teachers, staff, administrators and the people in our community all make our district great and unique. It is the people I like the most and am most proud of knowing and serving“. We appreciate all that Mr. Hogan does for the district.

Megan Miller

Megan Miller – Mrs. Miller began her first term on the Northern Local School District Board in 2018. She is the Board’s Legislative representative. She and her husband are graduates of Northern Local and are raising their two children as GENERALS as well. When asked what she likes most about the district Mrs. Miller said, "The People. We have a great community that supports our district and I am proud to say I have been a part of this district my entire life. It is great to be at school events and see all the support from the community, teachers, administration, students, and parents. It is true General Pride and I am honored to be a part of it." We appreciate all that Mrs. Miller does for our district.

Sharon Cains

Sharon Cains – Mrs. Cains is in her first tem as a board member. She has served 31 years in our district as a middle school / high school teacher. After retirement, she continued in the classroom as a substitute for over 13 years. She is still involved in various elementary classrooms as a volunteer. She is proud that her 5 grandchildren are the third generation of Generals in her family.

When asked what she liked most about the district Mrs. Cains answered, "Northern Local is a school district loved and supported by the community. I enjoy seeing former students and their families at school functions and I see the pride they have in raising their children in our community. It is a great place to work and raise a family."
