The Northern Local School District has adopted the Academic Standards developed by the Ohio Department of Education. The curriculum is aligned with these standards.
The curriculum staff works with teachers to develop the curriculum and instructional methods appropriate for each level - elementary, middle school and high school. The Courses of Study are based on the Ohio Academic Content Standards.
Department members work with teachers to implement formative assessments that provide data to focus instruction and plan intervention.
Staff members also assist in activities designed to prepare students for the Ohio Achievement Assessment and the Ohio Graduation Test.
Each year the curriculum department selects goals to meet district needs. Professional development opportunities are planned to meet those goals.
