Physical Education for the Week Beginning April 20th

Fitness Solitaire

(PE week of April 20th)

    I hope all of you are doing well and staying active. Remember we all need at least 60 minutes of exercise everyday. This week I thought we would play a game using a deck of cards. We will also be practicing our addition and subtraction facts. You can also practice any of the other assignments from previous weeks. Just stay active and healthy. I miss you seeing you all.

 

Equipment;

One deck of cards and a timer.

 

Objective: 

Turn the cards over as quickly as possible while adding or subtracting.

 

To Begin:

Remove all of the face cards (kings queens, jacks) from the deck. Divide the remaining 40 cards into two piles, one with all red cards and one with all black. Shuffle each pile and place them face down in front of you.

 

Game Play:

  • Choose addition or subtraction.

  • Turn over one card from each stack.

  • Add the numbers together, or subtract the smaller number from the larger. The result will determine how many exercises you perform. See chart below.

  • If you get the answer correct, place the cards in a separate pile next to the stack. If you are incorrect, return the card to the bottom of the pile. 

  • Continue until all cards are gone.

  • You can take turns and play with another person if you want.
