I am excited to welcome all of you back to what I am sure will prove to be another outstanding year for the Generals! We have been extremely busy over the summer months preparing for the arrival of students and staff as you may have noticed, if you have visited our campuses already this school year. We have improved the side entry at Thornville Elementary School, resurfaced and lined the track, repaired our high school and middle school sewage plant, lined all of our parking lots, cleaned and painted many areas of our buildings and the list goes on. Our custodial staff has done an amazing job getting everything ready for the school year and we appreciate all of their efforts.
The Board of Education has worked diligently along with our staff to prepare a strategic plan that continues to maintain and improve our current district assets, as well as looking toward our future needs that can enhance the opportunities offered to our students. This is a five year plan that designates our budgeted dollars to specific projects that have been identified through community surveys, staff and student surveys, facility assessments, community safety meetings, and board discussions. The focus of this plan is the safety of staff and students as well as the maintenance of our facilities. It also outlines textbook and programming initiatives over the next several years as we work to move our students forward. You can see this plan on our website. If you are interested in learning more about all of the wonderful opportunities our students experience then visit our website and view any of the short videos for a quick look at what we have to offer!
Finally, it is with great excitement that I invite each of you to attend our student programs and activities. We have a great community and our students genuinely appreciate the support that they receive at all of our events.
Yours in Education,
